Car manufacturers rev up the thrill factor for 2003 - Rush hour.

High-performance sports cars are expected to be popular amongst Australian new car buyers in 2003. A number of local and overseas car-makers will launch performance vehicles during the year. Ford will reintroduce the classic V8-powered Falcon GT, while a performance version of the Focus small car will also be released. Mazda's new offering in the sports-car market will be the RX-8, hitting showrooms in July, while Nissan will launch the 350Z in February. Subaru will introduce a revised version of the WRX STi, while the Holden Monaro Series II will have more engine power. Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Peugeot and MG will also launch new sports models.
