Property trusts down but not out.

Australasian Business Intelligence, January, 2003

Jan 13, 2003 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX)

UBS Warburg has recommended Australian investors go underweight in listed property trusts. This may have helped ease the Standard & Poor's/Australian Stock Exchange 200 Property Trust Index down on 13 January 2003. However, the sector is expected to deliver a 12-month return of six to eight per cent. Though lower than UBS Warburg's prediction for the equity market, property trusts do have advantages beyond raw return. It really comes down to sector selection, with UBS Warburg recommending overexposure to retail and industrial-based funds. Office and diversified trusts were also listed as underweight investments.
