Power cars tune out.

Australasian Business Intelligence, February, 2003

Feb 20, 2003 (Herald Sun - ABIX via COMTEX)

Some new technology in high performance cars is not being imported into Australia. The engine-management systems do not suit Australian fuel, which has lower octane levels than European fuel. Audi Australia will not import its new model which combines increased power with reduced emissions. Volkswagen are able to bring in their top models with little alteration. Some manufacturers, Subaru and Honda, have re-tuned their engines to cope with the lower grade of fuel. Audi is re-tuning one model to suit Australian fuel.
