Satellite networks are the best solution for communications in the mining industry. Satellite communication can deliver fast and reliable service. Communication networks can be accessed and data can be transferred. They can be used for communication in remote areas. Satellite communications can provide the increased bandwidth required for mining applications. Immarsat provides the Global Area Network and the mini-M, both already used in mining situations in Africa. A new system, Regional BGAN, is a mobile wireless system with many applications in the mining industry.
