Jobs dry up for graduates.

Australian university graduates looking for IT jobs will face a tough market, with entry-level demand down by 50. According to the MD of Sapphire Technologies, Mike Weale, some corporates had cut demand by up to 70 of 2001 levels in 2003. Qantas Airways, AMP, Westpac Banking and Macquarie Bank all indicated they would be hiring reduced numbers of candidates compared with the levels of 2001. Trevor Taylor of recruitment agency Candle said there was a downturn, but it was likely entry-level demand would pick up in two or three years.
