Overseas flights to cost more.
Australasian Business Intelligence, March, 2003

Fares for overseas air travel will rise because of the war in Iraq. The International Air Transport Association warned that travellers will have to pay up to 3 per cent extra. This will cover the increasing cost of jet fuel and the increased cost of war insurance. Some insurance companies have suggested a surcharge on airlines flying to the troubled area. Qantas, Japan Airlines, Lufthansa and others have announced that fares will rise as costs increase and bookings fall. Air New Zealand is watching fuel prices and may also increase fares.
