Glenn Oakley, the former CEO of the Newcastle Port Corporation, has been asked to stand down from a Sydney local government position. The call follows allegations that degrees Oakley claims to hold, from the University of Newcastle, University of New South Wales, University of New England and Harvard University, do not really exist. In a statement, the Newcastle Port Corporation said it was "surprised and disappointed" by the allegations, saying it was satisfied with Oakley's performance as CEO, as evidenced by its offer of a contract extension to Oakley before his departure.
