Australia's Amcor and ACI are set to compete heavily in the wine bottle sector. Amcor will construct a second glass furnace at its bottle plant in South Australia, at a cost of $A125m. Meanwhile, ACI has also increased capacity at its own Adelaide bottle plant, which has added the equivalent of 200 million bottles to its plant's output potential. Amcor began producing bottles at its plant in May 2002, and the company expects it to deliver a 15 per cent return on the capital investment.
