Channel Seven fires first salvos in the battle for ratings.
Australasian Business Intelligence, March, 2003
Mar 12, 2003 (The Age - ABIX via COMTEX)
The Seven Network in Australia is launching an extra news bulletin, in an attempt to improve its ratings. From Monday, 17 March 2003, a half-hour national news program will be broadcast on weekdays. The program will deal entirely with the war in Iraq, and will be hosted by David Johnston at first, and later by other newsreaders. The decision to run this program presumes that the war is going to occur, and very soon. In the event of a war in Iraq, the other commercial television networks, Nine and Ten, and the public broadcasters, ABC and SBS, would expand their news services.
