Asia's airline and tourism industries are under threat from the war in Iraq and the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). Airlines and hotels have reported a wave of postponements and cancellations. According to the World Health Organization, SARS has already killed at least 11 people. The Hong Kong Tourism Board advised that some hotels reported that up to 80 per cent of bookings have been postponed.
