HR "must take risks".

The Australian Human Resources Institute held a human relations (HR) practices panel session. The following three speakers were questioned: Comalco's safety manager, Brian Basset; Lynn Russell, the CEO of the Thuringowa City Council; and Coca-Cola Amatil's HR manager, Alexandrea Cannon. Russell said the boundaries to HR should not be viewed as constraints. Russell advised HR executives to use "considered risk-taking". Bassett noted that HR experts should make sure they work for firms with accommodating leaders. He said HR is not responsible for large executive payouts.
