Making IATA relevant to travel agents.
Australasian Business Intelligence, April, 2003
Apr 23, 2003 (Travel Week - ABIX via COMTEX)
Jeff Murdoch was appointed Australian regional manager of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in March 2003. Murdoch joined IATA from Qantas, with whom he worked for over 30 years. Murdoch says that one of his main tasks in his new job will be to develop Internet-based billing and payment (BSP) systems, as well as improving the relationship between IATA and travel agents. He says that a recent request by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission for IATA to review its travel agent accreditation procedures provides a good opportunity for IATA to look at rules that have "been in place for a long time", in order to see whether they are still warranted.
