Alinta, AMP carve up Aquila.

Australasian Business Intelligence, April, 2003

Apr 23, 2003 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX)

Aquila is set to sell its Australian assets, including United Energy, to AMP Henderson and AlintaGas. The deal is estimated to be worth $A1.32bn, and has been described as "fair" by analysts. The US-based Aquila opted to sell the Australian holdings to reduce its debt, which was incurred by an expansion rampage. In a separate deal, AlintaGas will sell 25 per cent of its gas assets to AMP Henderson. United Energy is supportive of the deal, and confirmed that no other offers had been made.
