Academics around the world are leading the development of next generation Internet protocols. Oxford University researchers are working on grid computing methodologies, while their California Institute of Technology counterparts are busy developing high-speed connections. The Australian Government and Nortel have committed funds for the recently launched Centre for Networking Technologies for the Information Economy.
