PDAs' stocks rise as prices fall.
Australasian Business Intelligence, April, 2003
Apr 07, 2003 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX)
The Australian market for handheld devices is expected to grow by 24.7 per cent in 2003. The market increased by 19.2 per cent to 115,350 units in 2002. According to Imraan Ali, of IDC Australia, the relative immaturity of the smart handheld device market and fairly high device prices are factors which have assisted in effectively suppressing device sales to the commercial sector. Ali claims that, as the prices of devices fall, businesses should increase their uptake of the devices. Ali claims that Dell's entry into the market and the new Pocket PC operating system mean that, in 2004, the market will be characterised by increased competition.
