Consumer education the key to probiotic market growth.
Australasian Business Intelligence, May, 2003
Apr 30, 2003 (Food Week - ABIX via COMTEX)
A new report into the probiotic dairy industry claims that a consumer education campaign would boost sales. Frost & Sullivan believes that consumers would be more willing to purchase live bacteria products if they were fully aware of the health advantages, such as the immunity benefits. Yoghurt is the most popular probiotic product, with many consumers recognising the value of live bacteria. However, the report recommends that dairy companies promote products for their probiotic value rather than just their cost or taste.
