The Victorian State Government has signed a 10-year lease in Melbourne's business district for $A260 million. Opposition Leader Robert Doyle attacked the deal, signed with Industry Superannuation Property Trust, as overpriced by $A70 million. The State Government will pay $A386 per sq m, compared with BHP Billiton's $A300 per sq m, National Australia Bank's $A300 per sq m, and PricewaterhouseCoopers' $A350 per sq m. Doyle requested Premier Steve Bracks sack ministers Sherryl Garbutt and Marsha Thomson. The Victorian Ombudsman found a conflict of interest between the ministers and Estate Agents Guarantee Fund.
