Discussions have stalled on a code of practice to control online music piracy. The Australian Record Industry Association (ARIA) is threatening to withdraw from discussions with the Australian Internet Industry Association. ARIA and other concerned groups want Internet service providers to be more accountable for music piracy. However, many Internet providers depend financially on the music downloads. The Internet Industry Association would support an arrangement where copyright owners detect violations of copyright, rather than a requirement for operators to monitor their networks.
