Australasian Business Intelligence, May, 2003
May 16, 2003 (Travel Week - ABIX via COMTEX)
The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) has developed an advertising campaign to combat recent negative publicity. The association has earmarked $A30,000 to start the campaign, which is receiving practical assistance from Qantas, Travelscene and the "Travelweek" industry publication. All sectors of the industry are keen to halt the downturn in bookings caused by the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). CEO of AFTA, Mike Hatton, says that newspaper advertisements will be designed to emphasise the true extent of the SARS outbreak.
