Hungarian-born billionaire investor, George Soros, expects the US dollar to suffer further losses against the European and Australian currencies. In an interview with CNBC, Soros said the US dollar would continue to weaken due to ill-advised currency policy by US Treasury Secretary, John Snow, who has suggested that he is comfortable with a low US dollar. Soros calls this position "irresponsible", claiming that a low dollar would not only stifle European growth but fail to provide any boost to US economic growth. The Australian dollar rose slightly in value to $US0.6584 on 21 May 2003.
