M&C Saatchi has survived its rocky founding in 1996 and enjoyed 35 per cent revenue growth between 1999 and 2002. When Marie Jackson became MD in 1999 she developed staff into a high-performance team. M&C Saatchi has noted consumers are more interested in customised advertising than global brands. For instance, creative director Jason Ross explains Qantas, as a challenger brand to Air New Zealand, tries to connect with New Zealand customers on their own terms. Ross believes the smaller New Zealand market, including close-knit agencies, requires a different strategy.
