Internet industry nuts out anti-spam law.

Representatives of Australia's Internet industry will meet to discuss their position on anti-spam legislation, proposed by the Australian Government. Peter Coroneos, the CEO of the Internet Industry Association, said that the new law must take into account the need of businesses to contact their customers via the most effective means of communication. The National Office for the Information Economy recommended in its report that unsolicited commercial e-mail should be banned. Coroneos argues that e-mail is a legitimate business tool, provided that it is used responsibly by companies.
