The Victorian Department of Justice has commissioned a global survey of online alternative dispute resolution (ADR) schemes. The report, which was conducted by the International Conflict Resolution Centre at the University of Melbourne, indicates that online ADR has quickly become an integral part of conflict resolution in a number of jurisdictions. However, there remain a number of issues to overcome if online ADR is to be adopted more widely, such as consumer confidence and the inherent limitations of e-mail. The report recommends that the Victorian Government establish an online ADR facility.
