$9.8m travel advisories "waste of money".

Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Alexander Downer's new $A9.8m travel warning package has been heavily criticised by the tourism industry. Tony Wheeler of Lonely Planet describes the package as a "waste of money" and believes that most travellers are educated on the dangers of touring certain destinations. The information package allows Australian travellers to gain up-to-date travel warnings from accredited travel agents and Internet sites.
