Prospective employees of investment banks are assessed through psychological tests. Macquarie Bank and UBS Warburg use tests to assess the suitability of graduate applicants. As well as intelligence tests, the banks use personality tests to measure emotional intelligence. According to Carol Royal, of the University of New South Wales, the tests try to discover the feelings, emotions, thinking style and temperament of a potential investment banker. Kevin Chandler, of Chandler Macleod Group, says that an investment bank is looking for people who will take controlled risks and are ambitious.
