An American businesswoman, Martha Stewart, has been indicted on nine criminal counts. After resigning as chairwoman and CEO of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, the media company she founded, Stewart has declared herself to be innocent of the charges, which include insider trading allegations by the Securities & Exchange Commission over her sale of shares in ImClone. Peter Bacanovic, Stewart's stockbroker from Merrill Lynch, has also been indicted.
