Pretax profit rose 25% at Construction Bank.

China's state media has published the results of China Construction Bank. The institution reportedly made a pretax profit of 7.54 billion yuan ($US910.6 million) in the first half of calendar 2003. The result was 25 per cent higher than that in the first half of 2002. The bank's operating profit rose by 34 per cent. Its non-performing loan ratio declined by 2.99 per cent, although the media report did not clarify how the ratio was calculated. Construction Bank is to dispose of 4.3 billion in bad loans through a joint venture with Morgan Stanley.
