Key stock indexes edge higher.

Major stock indexes were higher on 28 July 2003, marginally so in the US. In the late morning, the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 6.59 points to 9291.16, the Nasdaq Composite Index rose 7.08 points to 1737.78 and the Standard and Poor's 500 Index advanced 0.59 points to 999.27. Kellogg, Northrop Grumman, Qwest Communications and Sprint PCS shares were all up. In Europe mid-afternoon, the Dow Jones Stoxx 600 Index climbed 2.9 points to 208.69. EADS, Lagardere, Air Liquide, Amvescap, Exel, Pearson, Munich Re, Infineon and Lufthansa stock were all up.
