US economic outlook a lighter shade of beige.

Australasian Business Intelligence, July, 2003

Jul 31, 2003 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX)

The US Federal Reserve announced signs of improvement in the US economy on 31 July 2003. In the six weeks to mid-July, manufacturing activity rose and the speed of general economic growth increased. President George W Bush said faster economic growth will generate more new jobs. The Federal Reserve Board will draw on reports from its 12 districts when it meets on 12 August 2003 to set interest rates. A majority of economists surveyed by Bloomberg expect the central bank to leave interest rates unchanged.
