Virgin addresses Kangaroo Route.

Australasian Business Intelligence, July, 2003

Sir Richard Branson has reconfirmed plans by Virgin Atlantic Airways to introduce flights between Australia and the UK. The airline's chairman first indicated in mid-July 2003 that the UK-based business was considering expanding its operations to include the so-called "kangaroo route", and confirmed on 24 July 2003 that he expected such flights to begin by early 2005. So confident is Sir Richard that the planned new service will go ahead, he has written to the head of Australian competitor, Qantas, vowing to dress up as a Qantas stewardess if his airline fails to achieve this goal. Questions remain, however, over how Virgin will gain international clearance rights for the new route.
