ASX keeps up push for Tokyo link.

The Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) has reported net profit of $A57.8m for 2002-03, compared with $A59.1m previously. The result was $A61.3m before the inclusion of a $A3.5m charge over the discontinued ASX FundConnect project. Earnings increased to a record $A206.8m, compared with $A205.1m previously. A final fully-franked dividend of $A0.181 and a special dividend of $A0.275 were announced. ASX CEO, Richard Humphry, said the ASX is engaged in talks with the Tokyo Stock Exchange over establishing trading links. Shares in ASX increased $A0.12 to $A13.21 on 27 August 2003.
