Bet matching - one for the punters.
Australasian Business Intelligence, August, 2003
Aug 22, 2003 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX)
Edward Wray is using the power of the Internet to link gamblers across the world. He invented a way for people to bet against each other. Wray, the son of a London stockbroker, is the co-founder of betting exchange, Betfair. In Australia, punters go head to head with government-licensed companies, which include Victoria's Tabcorp Holdings, New South Wales's TAB and Queensland's UNiTAB. The betting monopolies accuse Wray of threatening the future of Australia's racing industry.
