'Soldier on' vow if AMP split blocked.
Australasian Business Intelligence, August, 2003
Aug 24, 2003 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX)
Australian insurance company, AMP, could continue to operate as one entity, if its demerger proposal fails. CEO, Andew Mohl, revealed that the company could attempt to continue operations, if the demerger was blocked or if the company was unable to sell its UK business. Mohl said that the company had $A11.5 billion in funds, which would allow the continued operation of the group. However, $A1.7 billion of that was specifically raised to fund the demerger. The company's poor results also cast doubt on the demerger.
