Telstra backs ADSL service.

Australian telco Telstra has rejected criticism of the roll-out of its high-speed broadband Internet service in Wanneroo, Western Australia. The telco has responded to comments made by Australian Opposition communications spokesman Lindsay Tanner on 14 August 2003. Tanner said that the City of Wanneroo had told him that Telstra had refused to provide asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) broadband services to exchanges within the city. He said the city was concerned that the lack of access to ADSL broadband would restrict the its ability to attract new businesses and retain established enterprises.
