Australia's DataDot Technology has won a case in the Federal Court against rival Alpha Microtech. The court ruled that Alpha could not sell its SmartDOT system in Australia. Both systems use microdots imprinted with a vehicle identification number, which are sprayed on a car, providing a permanent means of identification. The DataDot system is used by companies such as BMW and Subaru. DataDot intends to pursue Alpha for court costs and compensation for damages.
