The Internet Industry Association (IIA) issued a warning to Australian businesses in August 2003. Peter Coroneos, chief executive of the IIA, claims that many Australian businesses are vulnerable to computer hackers because they have no firewall or intrusion detection system to protect their external connections. A survey published by PricewaterhouseCoopers has revealed that 47 percent of Australian businesses have suffered economic crime over the previous two years.
