Expect positives from profit-reporting alerts.

Australasian Business Intelligence, August, 2003

Aug 10, 2003 (The Sun-Herald - ABIX via COMTEX)

Australian accounting firm Ernst & Young has predicted a 33 decrease in profit downgrades for 2003. A survey by Dun & Bradstreet indicates that 156 out of 400 companies surveyed predict profit increases for the final calendar quarter of 2003, and a reduction in the number expecting profits to fall. However the number of companies reporting forward investment in plant and equipment has decreased by 56, indicating a future drop in business investment. This could produce economic difficulties if the housing boom fades.
