Australia talks tough on compliance.

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) is turning up the heat on corporate taxpayers. Companies are encouraged to ensure taxation compliance. The "Cooperative Compliance Model" stresses ATO policy and to comply with Australian tax laws. Tax audits are conducted where there has been the discovery of non-compliance. According to Larry Magid, a tax partner at Allens Arthur Robinson in Sydney, the corporate compliance model helps inspire voluntary compliance. As large firms have faced scrutiny from the ATO in the past, their compliance procedures are in place.
