Discovery Toys of the US has moved into the Chinese market. Lane Nemeth, of the US, founded Discovery Toys in 1978, after searching for educational toys for her own child. Discovery is now owned by EOS International. Discovery revealed, in September 2003, that it has licensed its products for sale in China. It had entered an alliance with Beijing-based BabyCare Limited. Many Chinese couples have only just realised that toys are an important learning tool for babies and young children. They are only allowed to have one child. Discovery will target wealthier couples in cities.
