Cloud hangs over open skies accord.

Australian Transport Minister John Anderson has reached an agreement removing capacity restrictions on Singapore Airlines' Australian flights. Anderson has signed a bilateral agreement with the Singapore Government's Transport Minister, Yeo Cheow Tong, which allows the airline to fly into any Australian airport without capacity limits. However, Anderson said that a full "open skies" agreement had been put on hold to help Australia's Qantas get through a "difficult period". The move means that Singapore Airlines has not been given unrestricted access to the Australian-US market. He said that a more open agreement would be considered in the future when the global aviation sector improved.
