Positive signs are emerging from the German economy. Consumption is increasing and sales of digital equipment are on the rise. The Ifo business confidence survey has now risen for four months in a row. Demand from the US for German products is returning following the post-11 September downturn. BMW has created 2,000 new positions, while Porsche sales are healthy. ThyssenKrupp and Siemens exports are improving due to the euro's gains against the US dollar. German Chancellor Gerhard Schroder's EUR15.5bn tax cut has been welcomed by economic analysts.
