Microsoft targets home networking.

Australasian Business Intelligence, September, 2003

Microsoft is expected to release new networking systems for Australian home users in 2004. Similar systems have been available in the US since 2002, but have not come to Australia due to concerns over limited broadband Internet take-up. The systems are likely to be distributed after undergoing a revision. They use the 802.11x "Wi-Fi" protocols to establish a self-activating home network based on hardware detection, with the latest systems to use the advanced 802.11g protocols.
