ACCC considers code of conduct for shop leases.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) has recommended establishing a retail tenancy code of conduct. ACCC chairman Graeme Samuel informed the Franchise Council that a conduct code would reduce the chances of unconscionable conduct by shopping centres towards franchisees. According to the Franchise Council, the number of franchises operating in Australia will rise significantly. Busy Australians are increasingly hiring franchises to carry out various household tasks.
