Protection in law reforms falls short.
Australasian Business Intelligence, October, 2003
Oct 09, 2003 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX)
The protections for whistleblowers in new corporate laws are inadequate, say some analysts. Tim Phillips, the head of Deloitte Forensic, says that the proposal could only apply to people who report suspected corporate misconduct and fraud to the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC), which, he says, is already swamped with work and stretched for resources. Phillips says that the amendment should be applicable also to people who report problems of this nature to police and upper management.
