Wee fees and a rights rebound.

Australian companies are favouring renouncable rights issues in capital raisings. Institutional placements and share purchase plans have been more popular for capital raisings in the few years to 2003. ANZ Bank is following a recent trend and raising capital with a renouncable rights issue. The Australian Stock Exchange plans to make changes which will encourage renouncable rights issues. There has also been a change in the pricing of underwriting fees. Insurance company, AMP, and ANZ Bank paid much lower fees than usual for their capital raisings.
