Michael Speck is a key figure in the Australian music industry lawsuits against web site operators. Speck is the head of Music Industry Piracy Investigations. On 26 October 2004, he was cross-examined by Anthony Morris QC, the counsel for Stephen Cooper, who owns a free music web site. The site is called mp3s4free.net. Speck denied his raid on Cooper in 2003 was a publicity stunt. Universal Music has sought financial damages from Cooper, his internet service provider and others. Morris says the site does not contain any music files, but is only linked to others.
