New figures released by the Market Intelligence Strategy Centre (MISC) show that more property buyers are electing to refinance their mortgage loan. The data indicate that there was a 28 per cent increase in refinancing by investors in the June 2004 quarter. The volume of refinancing for the quarter totalled $A1.5bn, and MISC noted that loan products aimed at the professional market were popular. Meanwhile, recent data from the Reserve Bank of Australia show that in annualised terms, housing credit growth slowed to 17.7 per cent in September, compared with 19.5 per cent in the previous corresponding period.
