Call for probe of Fairfax's Ten bid.(Brief Article)

Australia's media union holds concerns about a potential merger for newspaper publisher, John Fairfax Holdings. Fairfax is negotiating with Canadian company, CanWest, to buy its stake in Australian television network, Ten Network. A special structure enables CanWest to hold a 57.5 per cent stake in Ten. However, the Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance has called on the Australian Broadcasting Authority to investigate the move. The union said that the possible deal breaches present cross-media laws in spirit.
