Australian newspaper publisher, John Fairfax Holdings, is interested in a stake in TV network, Ten Network. Fairfax wants to control its destiny, with the future prospect of liberalised media laws. The changes could make Fairfax a takeover target. Fairfax is talking with Canadian company, CanWest, which holds a 57.5 economic stake in Ten. Fairfax board member, David Gonski, believes that the ownership structure could be transferred to Fairfax. Fairfax could solve the problem of its new CEO with a merger of the two groups.
