Credit cards net new business online.(Brief Article)

Australian consumers are increasingly paying for goods and services via the internet. Visa has reported that e-commerce purchases by its cardholders soared 65 per cent to $A6 billion in 2004. Organic Food Express has had an online presence for six years, and nearly all of its orders are now placed through its website and paid for with credit cards. About one third of Qantas's domestic bookings were made through qantas.com.au in 2004. EnergyAustralia says the payment of bills online has grown significantly in the 18 months since it started offering the option.
